A man who killed his girlfriend and then shot himself in the head in a suicide attempt last year in Southeast Baltimore pleaded guilty yesterday to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Hector Manzueta, 26, killed Katiria De La Cruz, 24, when she tried to end her relationship with him and refused to divorce her husband, city prosecutors said.

After shooting De La Cruz on June 19, Manzueta called a family member and confessed. That person called city police. When officers arrived at the apartment in the 1400 block of Anglesea St., the injured Manzueta opened the door and let them inside, police said.
