Mariners update

Seattle has won nine of 13 and is 5 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Angels in the American League West. Center fielder Ichiro Suzuki set the Mariners' club record Friday with a hit in his 25th straight game, but the streak ended the next day. Felix Hernandez, tonight's starter, won his first two starts this season without giving up a run. But since going to the disabled list with elbow soreness after being removed in the first inning of his April 18 start, the 21-year-old is 1-2 and has given up 14 earned runs in 20 innings. J.J. Putz is 13-for-13 in save opportunities. Mariners third baseman Adrian Beltre is day-to-day with a sprained left thumb. Former Orioles and current Mariners manager Mike Hargrove is expected back with the team after attending his daughter's high school graduation in Ohio. The Orioles were 4-6 against the Mariners last year and split four games at Safeco Field.
