Skin cancer testing set at LPGA event

Board-certified dermatologists from the Women's Dermatologic Society will provide free skin cancer screenings and sun safety education at the McDonald's LPGA Championship at Bulle Rock Country Club in Havre de Grace.

Hours for the screenings are 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and June 10. Screenings are free with admission to the tournament.

Lecture to focus on child car seats

The Upper Chesapeake Family Birthplace will hold a car seat safety lecture from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 10 at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center conference center.

Parents will learn the proper way to install a child safety seat and what seat is right for their child.

Center to offer cancer screenings

Upper Chesapeake Health will offer free head, neck and oral cancer screenings from 9 a.m. to noon June 11 at 456 Alliance St., Havre de Grace.

Individuals who have a lump or sore that will not heal, a sore throat that will not go away, difficulty swallowing, or a hoarseness in their voice can make an appointment for a free screening from otolaryngologist Dr. Steven Marks.

Cancer patients get appearance advice

The American Cancer Society is sponsoring a "Look Good, Feel Better" program for cancer patients from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 12 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

The program provides makeup and hair techniques to counter appearance-related effects of treatment.

Young helpers sought for blood donations

The American Red Cross is seeking youth volunteers age 14 and older for the summer to assist staff in blood collections in the metropolitan area.

Blood drives last about five hours; a commitment of six sessions is requested. Youths must have transportation.

Responsibilities include greeting donors, providing them with donor reading materials, offering refreshments and observing donors for post-donation reaction.

Training will be provided from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. June 22 in Harford County.
