HCC OK'd to bid on GSA contracts

Howard Community College has been approved by the U.S. General Services Administration as an official contractor eligible to bid on GSA Schedule government contracts administered under the "GSA Advantage" procurement system.

One of a small number of community colleges approved on the GSA schedule, HCC can bid for training contracts from agencies that use the schedule, and offer discounted tuition to GSA-scheduled government agency employees taking courses in subjects such as information technology, business management, project management, supervision, business writing, public speaking, presentations, people skills, team leading and anger management.

Agencies can also arrange to have classes at their sites or for customized training for staff groups.

The approval, which allows the HCC to take advantage of the influx of employees expected as a result of the military base realignment process, broadens the college's range of services from county and state government agencies to federal employees.
