Athletics update

The Athletics ended a three-game losing streak Wednesday that matched their longest of the season. Oakland hasn't been swept in a three-game series since June 30-July 2 of last year. The A's have 10 players on the disabled list, with reliever Justin Duchscherer joining the list on Tuesday and outfielder Milton Bradley on Wednesday. Rich Harden, Bobby Kielty, Mark Kotsay, Mike Piazza and closer Huston Street also are unavailable for this series. Oakland has used the DL 12 times this year, three fewer than all of last season. Jack Cust makes his triumphant return to Camden Yards. The former Oriole has eight homers since joining the team May 4. Much of the Athletics' success is based on their pitching. They've got the lowest team ERA in the American League. Haren is first and Kennedy eighth. Oakland swept the Orioles last month in a two-game series in Baltimore.
