Austria's superb white wines are largely unknown to U.S. wine consumers, but wines such as this one should attract some notice. Gruner veltliner, especially, is a little-known gem among white-wine grapes. This excellent example is bone-dry, with nuances of mineral, pear, sweet pea, honey, orange and almond. This wine is available at some wine-specialty stores in Maryland. It might require some effort to find, but is worth the exertion.
