Harford County sheriff's deputies are investigating two assaults over the weekend in which individuals were attacked by several people in Edgewood. Police do not believe the attacks are connected.

The first incident occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday, when an Edgewood man, 33, was outside a 7-Eleven on the 500 block of Edgewood Road with friends when he was confronted by about 10 men. One of the men approached from behind and cut the victim in the face with a knife. The victim was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening. Witnesses described the assailants as being 18 to 20 years old, police said.

About 9 p.m. Sunday, a Belcamp man, 26, was walking along a footpath near Grempler Way when a woman and about five men approached. The man was knocked to the ground, kicked several times and shot with a BB gun, police said. The victim managed to flee and was taken to Bay View Medical Center for examination.
