Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore and Baltimore County.



Rape-murder arrest -- Carroll Hugh Bell, 51, of Philadelphia, was arrested Wednesday by Philadelphia police on a Baltimore warrant charing him with the 1990 rape and killing of Beverly Dixon, 30, of the 2000 block of Pennsylvania Ave. Her partially clothed body was found in an alley behind the 2100 block of McCulloh St. on Jan. 25, 1990. Police said she had been strangled. Bell was being held in a Philadelphia jail Thursday pending extradition to Baltimore.

Robbery -- A 22-year-old man was walking in the 300 block of McMechen St. about 1 a.m. Thursday when a gunman said "Kick it out!" The gunman then struck the victim in the face before robbing him of his wallet and cell phone.

Robbery -- A 60-year-old man was walking in the 500 block of W. Lafayette Ave. about 7 p.m. Wednesday when he was assaulted by three teenage boys who robbed him of $15.50. The victim sustained facial injuries and was treated at the scene.


Shooting -- A man was reported in good condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after he was shot in the face about 10:15 p.m. Thursday in the 4700 block of Melbourne Ave. by an unknown person. Police said several shots were fired, some of which struck cars parked on the street and nearby homes.


Arrest -- Davon Steele, 17, of the 6100 block of Fairwood Ave., was arrested Wednesday in the 4300 block of Norfolk Ave. on a warrant charging him as an adult with the armed robbery Dec. 30, 2006, of Checkpoint Check Cashing Co. in the 2300 block of Harford Road.

Assault -- Two men were fighting in the 800 block of N. Kenwood Ave. about 7:20 p.m. Thursday when one pulled out a knife and cut the other in the left side. The victim was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.


Armed robbery -- Police were seeking two teenage boys, one armed with a handgun, who robbed a 54-year-old man of $20 about 1:20 p.m. Thursday while the victim walked in the rear of the 1800 block of Ramblewood Road.

Burglary -- Someone broke into Sheldon's Liquors in the 4300 block of Belair Road through a rear door between 2 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday and stole an undisclosed sum of money and a quantity of liquor.


Shooting -- A 19-year-old was walking in the 400 block of E. 27th St. about 1:40 a.m. Thursday when two men standing in an alley called out to him. When the victim turned to run, one of the men shot him in the right arm. The victim got a ride to his girlfriend's house in the 2700 block of Greenmount Ave. and then was driven to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was reported in good condition.

Baltimore County


Burglary -- A green 2004 Kawasaki all-terrain vehicle valued at $8,000 was stolen from the back yard of a house between April 26 and Thursday.

Burglary -- A red all-terrain vehicle valued at $1,000 was stolen between 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday afternoon from the back yard of a house in the first block of Lerner Court.


Burglary -- A mountain bike was stolen Wednesday from the balcony of an apartment in the first block of Stiockmill Road.
