SALISBURY -- Senior attackman Eric Bishop scored five straight goals in the first half en route to a seven-goal game, leading top-ranked Salisbury over No. 7 Roanoke, 15-9, yesterday in an NCAA Division III men's lacrosse quarterfinal.

Salisbury (21-0) advanced to its fifth straight national semifinal, where it will host No. 2 Gettysburg on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium. Gettysburg defeated visiting Ithaca, 11-5, yesterday.

Salisbury also set a school record for wins in a season and registered its 59th consecutive home victory.

The Salisbury-Gettysburg winner will advance to the national championship at M&T Bank Stadium on May 27 at 1:30 p.m.

Wesleyan (Conn.) will host Cortland State on Sunday in the other semifinal.

Bishop, who also had two assists, took over the team scoring lead with 92 points (61 goals, 31 assists).

The Maroons (15-5) took a 3-0 lead less then four minutes into the game, but Salisbury's offense started to click and slowly chipped away at the lead.

Junior midfielder Brett Yoder (three assists) found Bishop twice on back-to-back goals, cutting Roanoke's lead to 3-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Bishop scored the first three goals in the second quarter, when the Sea Gulls outscored the Maroons 5-0. Senior Matt Dasinger (one goal, two assists) and junior Greg Titus (three goals, one assist) each scored to give Salisbury a 7-3 halftime lead.

Senior goalie Max Zarchin made 10 of his season-high 15 saves in the first half.

Salisbury went on a 4-0 run midway through the third quarter to gain a 13-5 lead and wasn't seriously threatened the rest of the way.

Junior attackman Zach Thomas led Roanoke with four goals, and freshman goalie Jake Dorsey made 12 saves.
