Ultra Chic

Perhaps better known overseas, recording artist Ultra Nate is about to make some noise at home in Baltimore with a new album

It's a wonder Ultra Nate is able to pull off the homegrown diva look: glossy lips, mile-long fake eyelashes and an ink-black faux ponytail raining down her back.

Easygoing, her smile inviting, the internationally celebrated dance music artist has been overseeing promotional activities surrounding the pending release of Grime, Silk & Thunder, her fifth album overall and first collection in six years. But taking precedence over that is Izaya, her 21-month-old son, whose bout with stomach flu has been keeping the artist up most nights.

Ultra Nate's album release party at Sugar, the dance party at Club 1722 (1722 N. Charles St.), is tomorrow night, midnight to 6 a.m. Call 410-547-8423 or go to sugarparty.org.
