Scottish Games

The lowdown -- Join the Scottish Games Association of Delaware as it presents the annual Colonial Highland Gathering on Saturday. The gathering includes such competitions as piping, dancing, drumming, shawl weaving and sheepdog trials, as well as an array of athletic challenges. Also featured will be craft vendors and live music from Carl Peterson and Searson.

Wine in the Woods

The lowdown -- Head to Symphony Woods for Columbia's 15th Wine in the Woods. Maryland wineries will be on hand, and there will be juried crafts from local artisans, food and a variety of live music.Maryland wine experts will be in attendance to answer questions.

Model Boat Expo

The lowdown -- Catch the Maritime Model Boat Expo this weekend at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Modelers will exhibit the mobility of their realistically detailed ships and the Model Sailing Club will race 5-foot-long skipjacks. In addition, the expo will have steamboat models, skipjacks, speedboats, tugs and other radio-controlled miniatures, model building and sailing and a number of vendors.

Faerie Festival

The lowdown -- Experience the magic of faeries at the Maryland Faerie Festival this weekend. Enjoy juggling, storytelling, faerie-house building, vendors, music by Emerald Rose and dance. Other activities include creating your own faerie persona in the Glamour Glen and a tea party with Posie the Faerie.

If you go -- The Maryland Faerie Festival is 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Patuxent 4H Center, 18405 Queen Anne Road in Upper Marlboro. Admission is $3 for ages 3-11, $10 for ages 12-99. $1 off if you dress in costume. Parking is $3. Go to
