Reviving Dead

The lowdown -- Check out Chicago-based Dark Star Orchestra during its two-night stay at Rams Head Live this weekend. Each night, the band decides to perform one of the 2,500 shows the Grateful Dead played during its 30-year tenure as jam band gods. DSO plays the set list from the show straight through to re-create the experience.

Taxlo is 5

The lowdown -- Party it up as Sonar celebrates the fifth anniversary of the weekly indie dance party Taxlo tomorrow. The bash will feature DJs Cullen Stalin, Simon Phoenix, Dave Nada and Chris O and performances by Two If By Sea, Hail Social and Coyote Bones. There will be $1 drinks 9 p.m.-11 p.m.

Big-band sounds

The lowdown -- The Village of Cross Keys kicks off its weekly MusicFest on Saturday with a performance from Helmut Licht's Big Band. In addition to the music, learn to tango during the dance showcase and check out the many shops within the village.
