Triathlon -- The 26th Columbia Triathlon, sponsored by Columbia Triathlon Association Inc. in cooperation with Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, will be held at 6:45 a.m. Sunday at Centennial Park. The swim-bike-run event starts at Centennial Lake with a 1.5K swim. Competitors start in waves - professionals first, then elite amateurs and then in groups ranked by gender and age (ages 15 to 70). The 41K bike route runs from the park to western Howard County and back and ends with a 10K run that circles the park and ends near the boat dock. A record number of entrants - 1,983 from more than 30 states and the District of Columbia - will participate. To watch the race, park on a side street and go to the Centennial Park boat dock. Proceeds will go to the Arc of Howard County and other charities. A Health and Fitness Expo, where participants receive their numbers, will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Sheraton Columbia Hotel. Admission is free. 964-1246 weekdays or e-mail, events@tricolumbia.org. Or visit www.tricolumbia.org.
