Permit Application Center -- 410-222-7700 Accepts, reviews, and issues all permits for land development and construction activities. Status of an application can be obtained by calling the 24-hour Automated Response System at 410-222-7700.

Inspection Services -- 410-222-7784 Inspects construction projects to verify compliance with building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical code requirements. To contact an inspector or obtain project information, call 410-222-7784.

Environmental Programs -- 410-222-7780. Inspects projects to verify compliance with environmental code requirements. Responds to sediment control violations, illegal clearing of woodland and improper grading. Call the 24-hour hot line at 410-222-7777 to report a sediment and erosion control complaint or violations in Critical Areas.

Zoning Enforcement -- 410-222-7446. Inspects complaints of zoning violations, regulates signs, the outside storage of junk, debris, unregistered motor vehicles and other uses of property. Issues Certificates of Use for businesses. It does not enforce community covenants, which are private contracts between homeowners. (Zoning Enforcement does not enforce tree cutting, clearing in the Critical Area or Buffer Management Plans. These are enforced by Environmental Programs at 410-222-7780.)

Development -- 410-222-7455. Coordinates and reviews all applications for residential, commercial and industrial subdivisions and reviews grading and building permits for large commercial and industrial projects.

Transportation -- 410-222-7432. Responsible for developing and coordinating transportation policy countywide, highways, transit planning and nonmotorized (pedestrian and bicycle) uses.

Office of social services -- Provides services and benefits for people who need help obtaining the basic necessities of food and shelter. Children's programs include day care, foster care and protective services. Vulnerable adults are also provided protective services and access to benefit programs.
