Awards

The Loyola College Executive Alumni Association presented Jack Greenberg with its Alumni Service Award for his active involvement and support of the organization.

Arlene Steen, a senior sales consultant with Builder's Advantage, received the Major Award of Excellence for Exceptional Sales Effort by the Home Builders Association of Maryland.

Contracts

Notari Associates, a Baltimore architectural planning and design firm, was awarded the contract to design the Ballenger Center, a four-story commercial building to be erected in Frederick.

Carl M. Freeman Cos. has been selected as property manager for six shopping centers owned and anchored by Mars Supermarkets. The deal expands the firm's commercial real estate management portfolio to 24 properties with 2.6 million square feet.

Stephen James Associates, a Baltimore-based professional recruitment firm, opened a new office in Cincinnati.

New clients

Imre Communications added Benjamin Obdyke Inc., a designer and manufacturer of residential roof and wall exterior building products, to its portfolio of home and building clients.

The USA Swimming Foundation signed a three-year agreement with Lanham-based Merkle to provide direct marketing services.

Weinberg Harris & Associates, a Baltimore-based public relations and marketing firm, announced the addition of the Washington International Horse Show and Laurel Mall to its client roster.

Openings

Harris Battery Co. opened a distribution center at 8306 Patuxent Range Road in Jessup.

J. Crew, the casual clothing and accessories chain, opened a store in Towson Town Center, at Dulaney Valley Road and Fairmount Ave.

Organizations

The Council of Foundations named Sharna Goldseker, vice president of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, to chair its advisory committee on family foundations.
