CONCERT COLE PORTER TRIBUTE

Get a kick out of Cole Porter at the concert "Too Darn Hot! A Tribute to Cole Porter" today through Sunday at the Music Center at Strathmore and the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra SuperPops, under the direction of Jack Everly, along with the Baltimore Choral Arts Society and music director Tom Hall and guest vocalists, will perform many of Porter's famed Broadway hits from the Great American Songbook. Among them: "I Get a Kick Out of You," "I've Got You Under My Skin," "Night and Day" and "My Heart Belongs to Daddy." Following each concert, Broadway entertainer Mark Nadler will sing and play piano at Club Cole, a free after-party in the venue lobbies for all ticketed concert-goers.

Readers and writers of all ages can rub elbows with kindred spirits at the CityLit Festival Saturday at the Enoch Pratt Free Library's Central Library.

Authors in fields as diverse as children's literature and journalism will discuss their works and take part in panel discussions. Mayor Sheila Dixon and Pratt Library Executive Director Carla Hayden will proclaim the day "CityLit Jewels Day," in honor of one of this year's featured books: Jewels: 50 Phenomenal Black Women Over 50 by author Connie Briscoe and photographer Michael Cunningham, who will discuss their work.

Participants also can attend festival workshops and the Literary Marketplace and talk to authors, poets and the local literati.

The fourth annual CityLit Festival runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Enoch Pratt Free Library's Central Library, 400 Cathedral St. The event is free. Call 410-274-5691 or go to citylit project.org.
