An unidentified man was shot last night outside a house in Baltimore's Union Square neighborhood and died a short time later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, city police said.

Southern District officers responding to reported gunfire in the 100 block of S. Mount St. about 7:30 p.m. found the victim lying on the ground bleeding from gunshot wounds to the neck and back, police said.

Police are also investigated the death Wednesday evening of another unidentified man who was found with an apparent gunshot wound in a dilapidated rowhouse in the Barclay neighborhood, a department spokeswoman said.

Officers responding to an anonymous tip entered the vacant dwelling in the 2200 block of Barclay St. about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. They found a body "with obvious signs of trauma," and paramedics pronounced the man dead, said Officer Nicole Monroe, a police spokeswoman.

The killing was the third in the neighborhood in three months. On Feb. 19, police found Charles Pace, 22, bleeding from gunshot wounds in a home in the 2300 block of Barclay St. Pace died of his wounds.

On Feb. 27, Vic Roy Fenner, 17, was killed about a block away, in the 2200 block of Guilford Ave.

There have been 95 homicides in the city this year, up from 88 at this time last year, according to police figures.
