86, an 18 year resident of Severna Park died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 29, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Pasadena. Mrs. York grew up in Maine and relocated to Maryland from Connecticut with her husband in 1989 to be close to her children. She was very active in the Senior Center and was chosen to represent Connecticut Seniors and testify on Capital Hill for the Select Committee on Aging in 1982. She remained active in may roles for the Senior Center, taking computer classes, swimming, yoga and serving Meals on Wheels. She was an avid reader, communicant of St. John's loved cooking, traveling, entertaining and tradition. She lovingly shared those rich traditions with family and friends. She led an independent and joyful life maintaining her own home until only recently. Mrs. York was born February 16, 1921 in Biddeford, ME. she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John J York and her grandson. She was the daughter of the late Orise and Napoleon Paul and one of 12 children. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Ball of Pasadena and Marie York of Severna Park, two brothers, Norman Paul of Sanford, ME, Harvey Paul of Biddeford, ME, two sisters, Blanche Emery of N. Berwick, ME, Shirley Nadeau of Durham, NH, one granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Friday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where memorial mass will be held at St. Johns' the Evangelist on Saturday at 9:30 A.M., Saturday.
