A 33-year-old Baltimore man received a 15-year prison sentence in federal court yesterday for drug possession while also possessing a weapon.

U.S. District Judge Andre M. Davis sentenced James McCoy Turner to the prison term followed by eight years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and use of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

According to the statement of facts presented at Turner's earlier guilty plea, officers with the Baltimore Police Department's Organized Crime Division searched his gold Nissan Altima on Feb. 8, 2006. Inside the car, they found crack cocaine and a loaded .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol in the center console, authorities said in court papers.
