Tigers update

The Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins yesterday to break a two-game losing streak and stay within two games of the Cleveland Indians in the American League Central. Struggling third baseman Brandon Inge, who entered the game with a .122 average, hit a tiebreaking, ninth-inning home run, his third hit of the day. Slugger Gary Sheffield is batting .193 but has shown some signs of breaking out of his slump, going nine for his past 24. Magglio Ordonez continues to wield a hot bat, getting two more hits yesterday, including a home run, to improve his average to .330. Robertson has beaten the Orioles once this season and is 3-1 with a 3.11 ERA against them in six career starts. The Orioles split six games against the defending AL champs last season, but dropped two of three when the teams played at Camden Yards earlier this month.
