Happy Helpers plans celebration

Happy Helpers for the Homeless will host their annual National Youth Service Day Celebration at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Chuck E. Cheese's, 6637 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.

Happy Helpers will transport the children whom they serve to this event for dinner, games and gifts.

This is the 13th year that Happy Helpers for the Homeless has held this event.

Lexus dealers sponsor ASO

The Baltimore/Annapolis Lexus Dealers Association has granted a corporate sponsorship to the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra that will span three concert seasons.

The dealers association will also be the title sponsor for the symphony's annual fundraiser, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra Ball.

The financial commitment from Lexus is the largest from a single corporate sponsor in the symphony's 46-year history.

Fort Meade honored with prize

Fort Meade placed second in the annual Army Communities of Excellence competition, an honor that carries a $1 million prize.

The ACOE Award Program recognizes top installations that demonstrate organizational maturity in how they approach and deploy processes targeting key performance gaps.

A ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday in the Pentagon auditorium.

Tech Council announces events

The Anne Arundel Tech Council has announced its activities for May.

Speaker: "The Equation that Couldn't be Solved: How Symmetry Permeates Life and Business," from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Historical Electronics Museum, 1745 W. Nursery Road, Linthicum. The Historical Electronics Museum, the Greater Baltimore Tech Council and the Anne Arundel Tech Council are sponsoring the event, which features Mario Livio, astrophysicist and author.

Technology Workforce Roundtable from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. May 8 at the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp., 2660 Riva Road, Suite 200, Annapolis.

Red Cross names district manager

The Red Cross of Central Maryland has named Lenore Koors district manager for Anne Arundel, Howard, Carroll and Harford counties.

Koors will increase awareness about the Red Cross and improve its communication with volunteers and emergency responders.

She previously worked as the development officer and volunteer coordinator at the Red Cross.

Business Leader of the Year named

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce last week named Nicholas Lambrow, president of M&T Bank's Chesapeake Region, Business Leader of the Year.

The criteria for selection were business vision, leadership ability, ethical business practices, corporate citizenship attributes and record of business accomplishments.

Paspex to offer technical support

Paspex LLC, based in Severna Park, will offer RemoteResQ, a remote technical support and help desk service for software running on Microsoft Windows-based PCs.
