PADRES -- Activated C Josh Bard from 15-day DL. Placed IF Russell Branyan on the bereavement list.

REDS -- Agreed to one-year contract extension with P Todd Coffey through 2008. Sent P Jared Burton from Triple-A Louisville to Double-A Chattanooga on rehabilitation assignment. Traded OF Chris Denorfia to Athletics for cash and two players to be named.
