City College named landmark

April 25, 2007

City College has been designated a "Historic Landmark" under a bill signed by Mayor Sheila Dixon.

City -- the third-oldest public high school in the nation -- opened in 1839 and has been at its current location since 1928, according to city officials.

"`The Castle on the Hill,' as City College is known, is truly a historic landmark," Dixon said.
