Transportation challenges to be addressed at meeting

The Corridor Transportation Corp., in partnership with the Baltimore Washington Chamber of Commerce, BWI Business Partnership Inc. and the Fort Meade Alliance, will present "Moving Mid-Maryland: Baltimore-Washington Corridor Transportation Summit," from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at BWI Airport Marriott, 1743 West Nursery Road, Linthicum.

The event will focus on transportation challenges created by commuting and growth in the region. Speakers will provide perspective on the economic impact of efficient transportation. They will discuss strategies for regional cooperation, funding options, identifying creative solutions and establishing achievable goals.

Speakers will include U.S. Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin; Maryland Transportation Secretary John D. Porcari; National Security Agency Deputy Director John C. Inglis; Alan Pisarski, author of Commuting in America; state Sen. James N. Robey; William Millar, president, American Public Transportation Association; and Barry Rascovar, author of Five Years, Fifty Thousand Jobs: Acting Now on Regional Transportation.
