Screenings offered at medical van

Upper Chesapeake HealthLink's medical van will be in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center's parking lot M, MacPhail and Tollgate roads, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Free blood pressure, sleep disorder and body fat analysis screenings will be offered.

Also available: cholesterol screenings for $10; osteoporosis screenings for $15; and cardiac risk assessments for $20 (cash or check only).

Ultrasound labs are accredited

The echocardiography laboratories at Harford Memorial Hospital and Upper Chesapeake Medical Center have been granted accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories.

An echocardiogram is an ultrasound test that uses sound waves to create moving pictures of the heart that can be displayed on a video screen.

Rabies clinics set at county sites

The Harford County Health Department will sponsor rabies vaccination clinics for dogs, cats and ferrets from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 29 at the following locations:

The Health Department, 119 S. Hays St., Bel Air.

Susquehanna Hose Company on Revolution Street in Havre de Grace.

Whiteford Volunteer Fire Department on Route 165 in Whiteford.

Abingdon Volunteer Fire Department, 3308 Abingdon Road.

The fee is $5 per animal. Dogs must be on a leash. Cats and ferrets should be in a pet carrier or box with air holes.

`Dining with Docs' events scheduled

Upper Chesapeake Health will hold a Dining with Docs dinner, lecture and discussion at 5:30 p.m. May 2 in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center's Chesapeake Conference Center.

Opthamologist Lisa Feulner will discuss "The Aging Eye: What Can Happen." Topics will include cataracts, macular degeneration, presbyopia and diabetic retinopathy. This session is appropriate for people age 40 and older.

A Dining with Docs program also will be held at 5:30 p.m. May 3. Podiatrist Richard Silverstein will discuss "Foot Facts: Everything You Wanted To Know About Foot Wellness," including general foot care, nail problems, heel pain and hammer toe.

The cost is $5 (cash only) for programs. Reservations are required.
