Woman dies after SUV hits barrier on Beltway

April 19, 2007

A woman died last night at a hospital after her sport utility vehicle struck a concrete barrier on the Baltimore Beltway near Towson, state police at the Golden Ring barracks said.

Police said the woman's name was being withheld pending notification of relatives. A medical condition might have contributed to her death, police said.

The woman was driving east on the inner loop of the Beltway between Dulaney Valley and Providence roads about 8 p.m. when she lost control of the SUV, glanced off another vehicle and struck the barrier next to the fast lane, police said.

The woman was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
