Man killed in house fire is identified

April 18, 2007|By LARRY CARSON

A man found dead in his Ellicott City townhouse after a fire Monday was identified yesterday as Randal Dinsmore, 48.

Bill Mould, a spokesman for the county Department of Fire and Rescue Services, said the house, in the 3200 block of Sonia Trail, was heavily damaged on all three floors by a fire that destroyed 75 percent of the roof. The loss was estimated at $400,000.

The two-alarm blaze began in the basement, Mould said. Dinsmore, the only occupant, was found in the kitchen. The first fire alarm was sounded at 5:30 p.m., and the blaze was brought under control in about 20 minutes. The cause was undetermined yesterday.
