Cause investigated after man, 62, dies in fire at Balto. County motel

April 15, 2007|By Greg Garland

An early-morning fire at a residential motel in Baltimore County claimed the life of a 62-year-old man yesterday, fire officials said.

Division Chief Michael W. Robinson said firefighters received a call about a fire at the Town and Country Motel, 25 Dunvale Road, at 12:39 a.m.

Robinson said the blaze was confined to a second-floor room of the two-story motel, where the victim was found on a bed. He said there were ashtrays in the room, but investigators have not determined whether smoking was the cause of the fire.

Robinson said the victim's identity would not being released until relatives were notified. He said the man had lived in the motel for 12 years.

About 20 people staying at the motel were moved to other lodgings in Towson, he said.
