Killed in Iraq

As of yesterday, at least 3,297 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003.


Staff Sgt. Marcus A. Golczynski, 30, Lewisburg, Tenn.; killed March 27 in combat in Anbar province; assigned to the Marine Reserve's 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division; Nashville, Tenn.

Master Sgt. Sean M. Thomas, 33, Harrisburg, Pa.; killed March 27 by small-arms fire in Baghdad; assigned to the 28th Division Support Command.

Sgt. Curtis J. Forshey, 22, Hollidaysburg, Pa.; died March 27 in Homburg, Germany, of a noncombat-related illness; assigned to the 129th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division; Fort Campbell, Ky.

Sgt. Jason W. Swiger, 24, South Portland, Maine; Cpl. Jason Nunez, 22, Naranjito, Puerto Rico; Pfc. Orlando E. Gonzalez, 21, New Freedom, Pa.; and Pfc. Anthony J. White, 21, Columbia, S.C.; killed March 25 when an explosive detonated near their vehicle in Baqouba; assigned to the 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division; Fort Bragg, N.C.
