Structural Preservations Systems, a Baltimore-based specialty contracting company, acquired Delta Pacific Builders Inc.. a California concrete restoration and coating firm.

Awards

Visicu Inc., which sells systems to remotely monitor critical care units, was named Innovator of the Year by the steering committee of the Innovation 2007 conference for chief executive officers of health care-related industry segments.

Corporate Office Properties Trust received the CEL & Associates ranking of Best In the Industry for commitment to quality service for tenants.

Defense contracts

Northrop Grumman Corp. won a $256.6 million contract to provide ground/air task-oriented radar to the U.S. Marine Corps. The defense contractor's Linthicum-headquartered Electronic Systems sector will be the prime contractor.

Larry Russell, an attorney with Ober/Kaler, was named an Outstanding Physician Practice Lawyer by Nightingale's Healthcare News.

Nonprofits

The International Youth Foundation named Douglas Becker, chairman and chief executive officer of Laureate Education Inc., as chairman of the IYF board of directors.

Steve King, learning and organization development executive for Constellation Energy Group, was appointed to the board of directors of Literacy Works Inc.

Openings

Overstock Outlet, based in Baltimore, has opened a second store at 4801 Allentown Road in Suitland. The new location will serve the greater Washington area.
