Rock on

The lowdown -- Baltimore metal and heavy rock fans need not suffer in a pop-punk world. Beginning tomorrow, the Sidebar is hosting its first Doom or Be Doomed Festival. Performances by more than 20 bands, including the reunions of Revelation, Penance, Dream Death and Blood Farmers - should give more than enough reason to pump some devil horns in the air.

The lowdown -- Lo-Fi Social Club's first Pain of Being Dead Art Show promises even the most superstitious a good time tomorrow. An exhibit honoring the horror of zombies will feature works of more than 20 artists. Roller girls will offer drink specials, while the Mishaps, the Alexander Set and Wayne Mutant & Meat will offer live music - all fit for Baltimore's own dawn of the dead.

Dark and catchy

The lowdown -- Dark pop is what Exit Clov has to offer at the Ottobar tonight. With Cibo Matto-like vocals, this political yet catchy indie quintet won the Washington Area Music Association's 2005 "Best New Artist" title and performed at Austin, Texas' SXSW last month. Other bands on stage that night are the Expotentials, Blond Hair Blue Eyes and Cloud Cult.
