Cancer benefit -- Graul's Food Markets will donate 5 percent of the store's profits April 18 and April 20 to the American Cancer Society and feature prizes and entertainment April 18 at the Hereford and St. Michaels locations, and April 20 at the Mays Chapel, Ruxton and Annapolis locations. Also at Graul's, there will be tastings of Grandma's Coffee Cake 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 18 in Hereford, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 19 in Ruxton and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. April 19 in Mays Chapel. Free. PGA Tour Wine Dinner --A five-course wine dinner will feature a series of dishes paired with wines from California, Australia and South Africa at 6:30 p.m. April 27 at Fleming's Steak House and Wine Bar, 720 Aliceanna St. $85. Reservations are required; call 410-332-1666.

When cleaning mushrooms, avoid using water because it will reduce their flavor. Use a brush to clean sand, grit and other debris from the pits and ridges.
