O's bullpen slammed by Yanks, Rodriguez

NEW YORK -- It was a full-count, bases-loaded slider that Chris Ray threw here about a year ago that froze Hideki Matsui for a game-ending strikeout and backed the Orioles' faith in their closer of the future.

Nobody from the organization doubts that is still the case, even as Ray's vulnerability seemingly increases each time he faces the New York Yankees. Brought on yesterday to convert a one-run save, Ray got two quick outs and then unraveled, surrendering a game-ending grand slam to Alex Rodriguez that turned what could have been the Orioles' second straight victory into a demoralizing 10-7 loss before 50,510 on a cold afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
