Oakland Night Music Series, sponsored by the Town Center Community Association, will present Tres Amigos, a local band specializing in Latin, Brazilian and popular music, from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday at Historic Oakland, 5430 Vantage Point Road, Columbia.
Admission to the informal concert is free, but donations for the performers are encouraged.

Hickory Ridge plans family bingo night
The Village of Hickory Ridge will sponsor a Family Night Bingo from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Hawthorn Center, 6175 Sunny Spring.
Paper cards are six for $1. Drinks are 50 cents and snacks are free. Prizes are planned.
Volunteers needed -- Slayton House will celebrate its 40th birthday this summer with a "Fabulousat 40" birthday party sponsored by Wilde Lake Community Association. The event, scheduled for June 16-17, will include entertainment, food, games, a tour of historic homes and a dedication. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate the event. Play-group -- Town Center Community Association is accepting registration for its spring session of Parents & Tots Play Groups, which begin this week. Children ages 24 months to 4 years old will meet Tuesdays; those ages 6 to 24 months will meet Wednesdays; and children ages 6 months to 4 years old will meet Thursdays. The 10-week groups meet from 10 a.m. to noon at Historic Oakland, 5430 Vantage Point Road. The cost is $25 a child for Columbia residents; $27.50 for nonresidents. Siblings can enroll for half-price. Yoga class -- Yoga Center of Columbia will continue to offer classes at Slayton House on Wilde Lake Village Green. Senior yoga will be offered from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays, this week through May 17. The classes are slow-paced and emphasize stress reduction. The cost is $15 to drop in. Columbia lien payers can request a 10 percent discount. The classes are appropriate for all levels of experience, but it is recommended that those beginning an exercise program consult a physician before starting. Registration is required. 410-730-3987.
40 years -- Atholton High School will hold a dinner gala in Celebration of 40 Years of Excellence from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Sheraton Columbia Hotel. Tickets are $55 per person; $100 a couple. Cocktail attire is requested. A cash bar is planned. A scholarship fund has been established in recognition of the school's 40 years of excellence.
