Historical society to discuss publication of '08 calendar

The Savage Historical Society will hold a meeting to prepare for the publication of its 2008 calendar at 7 p.m. April 16 at the Faith & Ministry Center, 9032 Baltimore St. (enter off Foundry Street), Savage.

Members and others interested in the history of Savage, or in possession of information about the mill or of photographs of its operations (carding, spinning, weaving, twisting, warping and other activities) should take copies of their materials to the meeting marked with the source of the information or image, as well as their name, address and telephone number.

Ladies Auxiliary plans lunch, bingo

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 8097, 7209 Montevideo Road, Jessup, will hold a bingo, lunch and bake sale from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 22.

Lunch will be served from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Bingo is planned from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the bake sale will continue until all items are sold out.

Library to hold dance, aerobics

The Savage branch library, 9525 Durness Lane, will offer dance aerobics (no partner needed) at 1 p.m. May 2. Linda White, a certified instructor, will teach ballroom and Latin dance exercises.

Instructors sought -- The South Laurel Recreation Council is seeking instructors experienced in teaching Pilates, cake-decorating or hand-dancing for evening classes in the Laurel area. 301- 776-2805.

Floral design -- The South Laurel Recreation Council Inc. will offer a floral design class on fresh flower arranging techniques from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, starting April 17, in the multipurpose room of Oaklands Elementary School on Route 197 in Prince George's County. Registration is required by Tuesday. The cost for the four-week course is $32 for residents of Prince George's and Montgomery counties; $36 for residents of Howard and other counties. 301-776-2805. School play -- Reservoir High School will present the musical Once on This Island, a romantic musical, at 7:30 p.m. April 20 and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. April 21 and at 2 p.m. April 22. Tickets are $10 at the door; $7 for high school students, and $3 for youngsters in kindergarten through eighth grade. 240-568- 7932.

Race, run -- Reservoir High School will hold its Musical Madness 5K and 1K Fun Run May 12 in the Maple Lawn community in Fulton. Signs will be posted to direct visitors to parking.
