NEW YORK -- It was exactly the reason the Orioles went out and spent $42 million to overhaul their bullpen. The Orioles took a four-run lead last night over the New York Yankees into the sixth inning after an early offensive outburst against Mike Mussina and another gritty and pressure-packed performance by young pitcher Adam Loewen.
All that was left from the team's first victory in 2007 was for the bullpen to get 12 outs, a task that so bedeviled the Orioles last season that it become the front office's primary focus.
