City officer assaulted during arrest attempt

April 07, 2007|By Annie Linskey

A Baltimore police officer was assaulted by an armed man in Southwest Baltimore yesterday afternoon, said police spokesman Agent Donny Moses.

The officer was responding to a call for three armed men in the back of a vacant rowhouse at Wedgewood and Briarclift roads, just north of U.S. 40 near the city-county line, Moses said.

The officer, who was not identified, saw men running away from the house and chased them, Moses said. He caught up to one man who tried to stab him but cut only the shirt of his uniform, Moses said.

Police said they were searching for the men yesterday afternoon.
