Thomas Edward Lowe II, a retired newspaper circulation manager, died of cancer March 27 at a nursing home in Boonsboro. The former Essex resident was 66.

Mr. Lowe was born in Baltimore and raised in Essex. He was a 1959 graduate of Kenwood High School and was an Army reservist with the 2122nd Maintenance Garrison in Reisterstown from 1964 to 1970.

From 1959 to 1974, Mr. Lowe was a salesman with Raymond's Men's Clothing in Essex.

Mr. Lowe was the Frederick circulation manager for The Washington Post from 1989 until 1999. He was local circulation manager for The Frederick News-Post for three years until retiring in 2003 because of failing health.

He was an avid sports fan.

Services were Friday.

Surviving are a brother, Kevin W. Lowe of Smithsburg; a sister, Shirley Ann Crabtree of Hertford, N.C.; and his longtime companion, Mary Beth Harbin of Frederick.
