McDonogh beats Gilman in lacrosse

The No. 4 McDonogh boys lacrosse team defeated No. 5 Gilman, 10-7, yesterday in a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association game.

Andrew Feinberg scored two goals and added three assists to lead the visiting Eagles (8-1).

McDonogh led 4-2 at the half. Goalie Tyler Fiorito made a major contribution for McDonogh, turning away 23 shots to keep the Greyhounds (2-3) from taking the lead.


John Carroll 8, McDonogh 3 -- Joe Loiodice led the host Patriots (1-3) with five RBIs and 13 strikeouts against the Eagles (1-4). Loiodice capped his day at the plate with a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth and pitched a scoreless seventh to seal the victory, marking John Carroll's first MIAA win of the year.

No. 6 Arundel 10, Annapolis 0 -- Left-hander Eric Potter struck out eight and walked two to power the Wildcats (7-3) over the host Panthers. Brandon Gill, Tyler Hibbs and Matt Skrenchuk each had two hits for Arundel.


Southwestern 14, Western 4 -- The Lady Sabers (4-0) defeated the visiting Doves for the first time in school history. Shannon Bonnett struck out 12 and added four RBIs.
