Crash kills motorcyclist

An Anne Arundel County driver died Friday after his motorcycle struck a box truck in Davidsonville, police announced yesterday.

County police identified the motorcyclist as Kevin M. Morris, 24, of Riva.

Morris was driving a 2005 Suzuki west on Central Avenue, also known as Route 214, just west of Patuxent Crossover. About 4 p.m. Friday, Morris' vehicle collided with a truck, which was turning left from the eastbound lane into Renditions golf course. The driver and passenger in the truck were not injured, according to authorities.

Police said Morris was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered head and chest injuries. He was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center, where he later died, authorities said.

Witnesses told police Morris was passing vehicles on the righthand shoulder at high speed.

An investigation into the crash is continuing, police said.
