THELMA R. DUBAS, 87 of Peckville, PA, died Tuesday morning at Moses-Taylor Hospital after a brief illness. Her husband is Michael C. Dubas. The couple recently celebrated 65 years of marriage Born in Ft. Littleton, PA she was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Estelle Wible Cromer. She was a graduate of Harrisburg School of Nursing. She was employed as an OB-GYN supervisor in several Baltimore area hospitals and also worked at Mercy Hospital in Scranton. She resided for most of her life in Baltimore but spent the last 29 years in Peckville after her husband's retirement. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Jessup, and the PA Nurses Association. She donated many of her quilts to churches for fund raisers. Also surviving; two daughters; Judith Ripley, Owings Mills, MD and Eleanor "Cookie" Dwonzyk and husband Les, Perry Hall, MD; two brothers, R. Boyd Cromer, and Bud Cromer, both of McConnellsburg, PA, a sister, Helen Long, of Waterfall, PA.; four grandchildren; James E. Ripley, Jr., Nicole Cogdill, Michael Dwonzyk, and Leslie Burg, and six great grandchildren, Chance Cogdil, April and Harrison Burg, Riley, Jason and Collin Dwonzyk. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Cromer and Freda Heitzel and many family members who fought in the American Revolution and Civil War. The funeral will be Saturday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St. Jessup, PA with a blessing service at 10:00AM in the funeral home. Interment, Monday at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Timonium, MD. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 PM in Jessup, PA.
