Roundabout construction set to begin

Construction of a roundabout at Whiskey Bottom and All Saints roads in North Laurel is scheduled to begin next week, weather permitting.

Lane closures will be necessary, and flagging operations will direct motorists during construction. The project is expected to be completed in about 90 days.

Race, run to benefit music program

Reservoir High School will hold its Musical Madness 5K and 1K Fun Run May 12 at the Maple Lawn community in Fulton. Signs will be posted to direct visitors to parking.

The race and run, fundraisers for the school's music program, will include student musical performances.

Savage history -- Savage Historical Society is collecting World War II photographs and information about veterans from the Savage area. It is requested that materials be submitted by Saturday. 301-725-1241.

Egg hunt -- Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will sponsor its Spring Egg Hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at two locations: Schooley Mill Park in Fulton and Laurel Woods Elementary School in North Laurel. The hunt is for children ages 2 to 10. Children, who should take a basket in which to collect the eggs, should arrive at 10 a.m. The eggs are plastic and contain prizes. Firefighters' bingo -- The Ladies Auxiliary of the Savage Volunteer Fire Company will sponsor a basket bingo at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Savage Volunteer Fire Co. Anime club -- The Savage branch library, 9525 Durness Lane, will sponsor a meeting of its Anime Movie Club for young people ages 11 to 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 2. The club features a screening of popular anime films. Refreshments will be served. Registration is required. 410-880- 5980.

Multiservice center -- The cooperative center created by local nonprofit organizations to reach residents in the southeast area of Howard County has a new name: North Laurel-Savage Multiservice Center. In the Whiskey Bottom Shopping Center, 9105 All Saints Road, the center offers help with housing, food, fuel and utilities, and crisis intervention for those in need.
