Events to mark bank's opening

Severn Savings Bank FSB will hold a ribbon-cutting celebration at its new branch at 200 Westgate Circle, Annapolis, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow .

County agency gets seal of approval

Anne Arundel County Court-Appointed Special Advocates Inc. was awarded the "Best in America" Seal of Approval by the Local Independent Charities of America.

The award is given to members of Independent Charities of America who have demonstrated the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness and cost effectiveness.

Chamber plans meetings next week

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce at 49 Old Solomons Island Road, Suite 24, Annapolis will hold an Education Committee meeting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and a power breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Crofton Country Club, 1691 Crofton Parkway.

Breakfast meeting set for Wednesday

The West County Chamber Business Exchange will hold a breakfast meeting to kick off the membership drive from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Key West Restaurant, 7253 Parkway Drive, Hanover.

The cost is $30 for nonmembers and $20 for members for both events.

Chamber to mark 60th anniversary

The Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 60th anniversary at this year's annual meeting.

BWCC members, guests and staff will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the BWI Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Road, Linthicum Heights, to network and celebrate.

The cost is $60 in advance for members; $75 for nonmembers and at the door. Reservations are required for events.

LaPenta certified as diplomate

Dr. Michael J. LaPenta, chief medical officer at Hospice of the Chesapeake, became certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

LaPenta joins more than 2,800 fellow physicians.

Admiral Cleaners marks 75th year

Admiral Cleaners, based in Annapolis, is celebrating 75 years in business.

Admiral, with 22 locations in Maryland, provides dry cleaning, wet cleaning, laundry and alteration services.

Owners, Scott and Whitney Kerridge, are the third generation to run the company.

Group plans annual fashion show

The Maryland Capital chapter of American Business Women's Association will hold its annual fashion show at 6 p.m. April 19 at the Doubletree Hotel, 210 Holiday Court, Annapolis.

The event will feature models showing fashion, makeup and hair, a live auction and raffle.

Tickets are $45 through Saturday, $55 April 1 to 8 and $65 after April 8.

BWI awarded concessions honor

BWI Marshall Airport has been honored by Airport Revenue News with this year's award for "Best Overall Concessions" in the medium-size airport category.

This is the second consecutive year that BWI was recognized by the publication in the competition.
