Severna Park High junior to serve on school board

March 23, 2007

The 17-year-old sibling of last year's student member on the Anne Arundel County school board has snared the seat for next year.

Sage Snider, a junior at Severna Park High School, was tapped yesterday in an election sponsored by the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils.

More than 175 county middle and high school students voted during the student General Assembly meeting at South River High School.

Roniann LaRoque of Broadneck High School and Meagan Lutz of Southern High School also competed for the seat.

Snider's name will now be forwarded to Gov. Martin O'Malley for approval.

Her older sister, Pallas Snider, served as the student member on the school board last school year.

Sage Snider has a 4.63 grade point average and is second vice president for CRASC. She played first violin with the Maryland State All-Star Orchestra and was a featured soloist with the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra last fall.
