Albert Machin, 76

Albert J, Machin, a retired store manager and avid boater, died Sunday of a stroke at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. The longtime Severna Park resident was 76.

Mr. Machin was born and raised in Baltimore. He was a 1948 graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School in Irvington and was a quartermaster in the Army from 1951 to 1953.

He was a salesman at Town & Country Sporting Goods and later was manager for many years of the Giant department store's sporting goods section at stores in Glen Burnie and Rockville. He retired in 1992.

Mr. Machin was an accomplished woodworker who made furniture and hobby horses that he sold at craft shows. He also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and power boating.

He was a member of the Carrollton Manor Improvement Association and St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Severna Park.

Services were Thursday.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Sylvia Mary Sappington; a son, Barry David Machin of Severna Park; a daughter, Carol Anne Moore of Severna Park; and two granddaughters.
