PHILADELPHIA -- The Coppin State women's basketball team won the school's first NCAA Division I postseason game by defeating Saint Joseph's, 67-52, in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament last night at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.

Coppin State's second-round game will be Monday night at 7 vs. South Florida in Tampa, Fla.

The Lady Eagles (25-7) won their first game against an Atlantic 10 opponent. The Hawks (19-14) lost their second straight.

In their first WNIT appearance, the Lady Eagles grabbed 21 offensive rebounds for a 49-27 rebounding advantage.

Tanezia Harden led Coppin State in scoring for the first time this season with a season-high 18.

Coppin's Rashida Suber, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's women's Player of the Year, scored 16.
