On Sunday, March 11, 2007, at 7:30 A.M. Evangelist BARBARA FILES was born on October 17, 1932 in Lynchburg, VA, to the parents of Frank Chappell and Priscilla Marcus. After marrying Charles Edwards Giles, Sr., she moved to Baltimore, MD. Out of this marriage she had seven seven children, Charles Giles, Sr., Henry Lee Giles, Frank Alexander Giles, and Priscilla Clarrissa Giles all of Baltimore; Kevin Giles of Spokane, WA, and Troy Walter Giles of Smithfield, VA. Evangelist Giles worked tirelessly with the Family Tree Organization as a Crisis Intervention Counselor assisting callers with life threatening concerns. She was also active in the Prison Ministry in Jessup, MD, with the Flying Eagles Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Mary Edwards. Evangelist Giles was also active in her home church of Israel Baptist under the leadership of Rev. H.W. Wilson in Baltimore. She was once President of the Senior Tenant Counsel of her senior building and was instrumental in pursuing improvements in the conditions of the elderly. She also held Thursday night bible study and hosted monthly worship services in her building for the community. Evangelist Barbara Giles will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. Services to be held at Israel Baptist Church, 1220 N.
