What's the point? The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance streams roots music from the earliest blues and folk recordings to today's bluegrass hits.

What to look forPart online museum and part jukebox, the BCMA Web site celebrates roots music as far back as the first country recording sessions in 1920s Bristol, Tenn. The Smithsonian-affiliated alliance keeps the memory and the sound of such artists as the Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers alive. A streaming audio station plays hard-to-find songs from eight decades of country, bluegrass and blues history and offers links to purchase CDs. The site also links to Internet and land-based radio stations playing roots music across the country.
