An exotic road trip

March 11, 2007|By PETER SCHMUCK | PETER SCHMUCK,Sun Reporter

The Orioles get their first close-up look at Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka today when they travel to Fort Myers to face the Boston Red Sox, which is as good a reason as any to make my first trip across South Florida on the famous Alligator Alley (I-75).

With a little luck, I may get to see some live gators and Matsuzaka's famous gyroball on the same trip.

I'm pretty excited. I've seen a live alligator, but I've never seen a guy throw a baseball wrapped in pita.
