Assistive technology session is tomorrow

Parents of students with special learning needs are invited to attend a workshop on "Introduction to Assistive Technology" from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tomorrow at Winters Mill High School, Computer Lab D, 560 Gorsuch Road, Westminster.

The purpose of the workshop is to familiarize parents, professionals, and community partners with assistive technology software and to raise awareness of how it can enhance student learning.

Presentation set on new high school

The Board of Education will give a presentation on projected school enrollments for the planned northeast area high school at the Hampstead Town Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the North Carroll High School auditorium.

Hampstead Mayor Haven Shoemaker asked the school officials to address the council and community on new enrollment projects that have generated more support for a new high school.

Information offered on GED alternative

Carroll County Public Schools offer the External Diploma Program, a self-paced alternative to the GED test.

Information sessions on the program will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. March 28 at Student Support Services/Carroll Adult Learning Connection, 55 N. Court St., Suite G27, Westminster.

School board to meet Wednesday

The Carroll County Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Room 007 of the board offices, 125 N. Court St., Westminster.

Meetings will be broadcast live on CETV, Channel 21 on Comcast cable TV and repeated at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sunday and the following Thursday, and 9 a.m. Saturday.

Job fair scheduled for March 21

The Carroll County Public School System will hold a job fair from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 21 at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center, 1229 Washington Road, Westminster.

Staff will be available to conduct screening interviews for the next academic year. Elementary and early childhood education candidates should call 410-751-3101 for an appointment.

Information will be available for other possible positions in transportation, substitute teaching, food services, custodial/maintenance, clerical, nursing, and instructional assistants.

Suggestions sought for school calendar

The Carroll County Public Schools Department of Human Resources is soliciting suggestions and/or comments on the 2008-2009 school calendar.

Scholarship open to Taneytown teens

The Taneytown Lions Club will award a $1,500 scholarship to a 2007 graduating senior who lives in the school districts served by Taneytown Elementary and Runnymede Elementary schools.

Seniors who meet residency requirements may attend Francis Scott Key High, a Catholic high school, or be home-schooled. Applications are available from Francis Scott Key High or Edward Sauble at 410-751-1160 or 410-751-1564.
